Privacy Policy

You Are Not Boring does two things. Ruth reads a draft you paste in and tells you where her attention went, or, if you do not have a draft yet, she interviews you about your life and hands back essay directions drawn from your own words. To do either, we store what you give us, including the full text of any essay you paste. Your draft and your interview are private: they are never published, and we never sell them. Only you and our team can see them. This page explains the details.

Your essay, if you paste one. We store the full text of every draft you hand to Ruth, and every revision of it, so she can read it, mark it, and read the next version against the last. This is the most personal thing we hold and it is treated as such.

Your interview answers. The things you type or say during the interview, which can be personal. If you answer by voice, your browser does the speech-to-text and we receive only the resulting text; we never receive or store audio.

What Ruth wrote about it. Her marks, her notes and her questions, stored against your draft so your read survives a closed tab.

Your email, if you give it. We use it to save your resume link and, if you buy the personal review, to send you that review. You are never required to hand it over to try the interview.

Payment details, if you buy. Payments run through Stripe. We never see or store your full card number.

Basic usage data. Which pages you visit and how far you get, so we can fix and improve the product. On some pages we use analytics and advertising tools (such as Google and TikTok) that measure traffic in aggregate.

To read your draft and produce your read, or to run your interview and generate your report. To let you stop and pick up where you left off, on any device. To take payment if you buy. And, if you buy the personal review, so that Henry can personally read your Common App report and email you a note about it.

We use counts drawn from other students' drafts (for example, how many essays opened the same way as yours) to give you context. Those counts are aggregate numbers only. Nobody else's writing is ever shown to you, and yours is never shown to anybody else.

You, and our team. Your draft and your interview are never published anywhere, and we do not sell them or share them for anyone else's advertising.

Anyone you send your own link to. The link in your email opens your read on any device without a password, which is what makes it work on a phone you are not signed in on. Treat it like a key: whoever has it can see that read.

We do share it with the service providers that make the product work, and only for that purpose: Anthropic (the AI service that reads your draft, runs the interview and generates your report), Supabase (secure database and storage), Stripe (payments), and Resend (the emails we send you). These providers process data on our behalf under their own terms.

We do not use your draft or your interview to train AI models, and we do not permit our providers to.

We may disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect someone's safety.

We keep your draft, your read and your interview so you can return to them during your application season. You can ask us to delete any of it, and your account, at any time by emailing henry.youarenotboring@gmail.com, and we will. Deleting removes the essay text itself, not just your access to it.

You Are Not Boring is built for high school students and is intended for people 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has used the service, email us and we will delete their information.

You can ask us what we hold about you, ask us to delete it, or ask a question about any of this, by emailing henry.youarenotboring@gmail.com. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws like the CCPA. We do not sell personal information.

We take reasonable steps to protect your information, but no online service can promise perfect security. If you are ever concerned about your account, reach out.

If we update this policy, we will change the date at the top. Your continued use after a change means you accept the updated policy.
