Terms of Service
LAST UPDATED JULY 25, 2026
Using You Are Not Boring
By using You Are Not Boring, you agree to these terms. You must be at least 13 years old to use the service. If you are under 18, use it with a parent or guardian's awareness.
What this is, and what it isn't
There are two ways in. Paste a draft and Ruth reads it once and tells you where her attention went, what she would do about each place she stopped, and what she would have remembered. Or, if you do not have a draft, we interview you and hand back your own stories, patterns, and essay directions built from what you actually said.
We never write your essay for you, on either path. Ruth marks your page and names the move; she does not supply the sentence. The Blueprint places quotes you have already said and asks you the question only you can answer. Every word you submit to any college is written by you, and is yours.
We do not guarantee admission to any school, a particular score, or any specific outcome. We are a brainstorming and writing-direction tool, not a counseling service, and not a guarantee.
Your responsibility
You are responsible for writing your own essays and for following the rules of every school, program, and application you submit to, including their rules about outside help and about using AI. Those rules differ by institution and can change. We do not promise that using our directions or Ruth's read complies with any particular school's policy. When in doubt, check with the school.
Paste only your own writing. Do not hand us work that belongs to somebody else.
Your private link is a key. It opens your read on any device without a password, which is what makes it work on a phone you are not signed in on. Anyone you send it to can see that read, so keep it to yourself.
Not affiliated with any college
You Are Not Boring is independent. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by the Common Application, Harvard, or any other college or university named on this site. We use those names only to describe which essays and prompts we help you work on.
Payments, plans, and refunds
A first read and the interview are free, along with a preview of what they found. Paid plans are a one-time charge, shown before you buy. Payments are handled by Stripe.
There are three plans. The full Common App report is $19. The Season Pass is $29 and adds a report for every supplement on your list, every school, all season. The Season Pass with a personal review is $49.
Our guarantee: if your read or your report doesn't surface at least one thing worth putting in your essay, email us for a full refund. No forms. Refund requests must be made within 7 days of your purchase.
What the Season Pass covers on the reading side: the rest of Ruth's read on that draft, and a fresh read of every revision of it you hand back, for the whole application season.
The personal review is only part of the $49 plan. Henry reads your Common App report himself and emails you a note, normally within 48 hours. That review is a genuine, good-faith read, not a line edit of a finished essay, and timing may occasionally vary.
Acceptable use
Use the service for your own application work. Don't submit someone else's private information as if it were your own, don't try to break or misuse the service, and don't resell it.
Your words and our product
Your interview answers are yours. Your report is for your personal use. The software, brand, and design of You Are Not Boring are ours, and you agree not to copy or resell them.
As-is, and limits
The service is provided as is, without warranties. To the fullest extent allowed by law, You Are Not Boring is not liable for indirect or consequential damages, and our total liability for any claim is limited to what you paid us.
Changes and contact
We may update these terms; the date on our Privacy Policy reflects the latest version. Questions? Email henry.youarenotboring@gmail.com.
